Import logins from file
Purpose
If you have a large number of portal users to create, the Copilot-assisted import lets you upload an Excel or CSV file and create multiple logins at once. The AI reads the file, identifies user data, and presents suggestions for you to review before anything is created.
Availability: This feature requires a Business Central online environment with Copilot enabled.
Supported file formats
- Excel (
.xlsx,.xls) - CSV (
.csv)
The file does not need to follow a specific template. Copilot recognises columns for name, login/username, email address, and whether the user should use Microsoft Login. An exact column match is not required.
Steps
- In Business Central, search for AppsForDynamics365 Logins
- At the bottom of the list, click Import from file (the Copilot icon button)
- In the dialog that opens, attach your file
- Click Process file - Copilot reads the file and generates a list of suggested logins
- Review the suggestions:
- Entries already matching an existing login are marked as duplicates
- Use the Create Login checkbox to include or exclude individual rows
- Click Import to create the selected logins
After import
Created logins have Active status and use the authentication method inferred from the file (Microsoft Login if an email-format login was provided, Username/Password otherwise). Review each new login and adjust if needed - see Create portal logins for field details.
