Reference: Permission sets

Portal Connect provides two permission sets. Assign them on Business Central user cards.

A4DAdmin_EX - AppsForDynamics365 Admin

Full administrative access to all Portal Connect pages and data.

Assign to: Business Central users who manage portal configuration, create and maintain portal logins, and troubleshoot sync issues.

Grants access to:

  • Read and write all Portal Connect setup tables (Customer Setup, Company Setup)
  • Read and write portal login records (logins, feature assignments, roles)
  • Read and write connected company records
  • Read and write change log entries
  • Access integration error pages
  • All pages under the AppsForDynamics365 administration area

A4DIntegration_EX - AppsForDynamics365 Integration

Permission set for the technical integration layer. Grants access to the web service endpoints that the A4D cloud calls when syncing data.

Assign to: The Business Central user account used by the A4D cloud web service integration (if your setup requires a dedicated integration user). In AppSource environments using OAuth, this is typically not needed - the cloud authenticates via the tenant consent granted during wizard setup.

Which set does an admin need?

An administrator managing Portal Connect day-to-day needs A4DAdmin_EX. This set includes read access as a subset, so you do not need to assign both.

Regular Business Central users who only use consumer applications (such as Expense Management) do not need either Portal Connect permission set - they access the portal directly, not through Business Central.
